We were out having coffee in a town we wouldn’t call home. A topic on marriage and kids arose as she came across our old friend’s post about her new little family.
“Would you get married someday? And have kids?”
I smiled at the question, neither confirmed nor denied. I realized that I couldn’t give a solid yes or no until some concerns are well addressed.
“That depends,” I murmured. How ready am I physically, mentally, financially, spiritually? What about my prospective partner? What if our kid had special needs? What if one of us changed our mind? What if…
As much as I enjoyed the freedom that came with singlehood, it occurred to me that the idea of building a family wasn’t so bad.
